Following the veteran's name in each abstract are a series
of numbers which identify the bounty land claim and or the pension
applications. In the case of the bounty land claim there are a series of
numbers representing the year of the act by which the applicant makes the claim
- followed by number of acres granted - followed by an arbitrary number for
that veteran's file. "Rej" signifies that the claim was rejected.
(Claims were frequently rejected for the lack of a sufficient number of days of
service or as the result of incorrect information such as the name of the
veteran's captain.) The pension files are identified by the veteran's S.O. and
S.C. numbers and widow's W.O. and W.C. numbers. Following these file numbers is
the rank held by the veteran and then the name of the captain as given by the
applicant.
