Henry C. Peden, Jr., MA, FMGS
Hank is a graduate of Towson University and a veteran of the Vietnam War. After 26 years service he retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation where he was Workers Compensation Administrator and also a lieutenant in the Sparrows Point Police Department. For a short time he served as Research Director for Family Line Publications.

Hank has been doing genealogical research over 30 years and is a well known genealogist who specializes in colonial Maryland families. He has compiled over 115 genealogical publications to aid Maryland researchers and has received many awards for his work. Hank was most recently recognized with the "2005 Norris Harris Award" from the Maryland Historical Society for his book entitled Abstracts of Marriages and Deaths in Harford County, Maryland Newspapers, 1837-1871. This award is designated for the "Best Maryland Genealogical Records Book Published".

Hanks other books include a series on Revolutionary War patriots in Maryland, a series on Marylanders who migrated to other states, a series on Colonial Families of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, a series on Maryland Bible records, a series on Maryland church records, and numerous books on Baltimore and Harford County records. His revised edition of A Guide to Genealogical Research in Maryland was published by the Maryland Historical Society in 2001 and has received wide acclaim for its usefulness and thoroughness. He has assisted countless men and women in joining DAR, SAR, Colonial Dames, Colonial Wars, 1812, and other patriotic societies.

Hank has held numerous offices in local lineage and genealogical societies. He is a Fellow and Past President of the Maryland Genealogical Society, Past President of the Harford County Genealogical Society, Past President of the Highland Society of Harford County, Genealogist Emeritus and Past Vice-President of the Maryland State Society Sons of the American Revolution, and a former member of the Search Room Advisory Committee at the Maryland State Archives. He is currently serving as Verifying Genealogist for the Society of the War of 1812 in the State of Maryland, Research Genealogist for the Historical Society of Harford County, Consulting Genealogist for the Society of the Cincinnati in Maryland, State Registrar for the Huguenot Society of Maryland, and Genealogist General (and Past President General) of the Hereditary Order of the Signers of the Bush Declaration (March 22, 1775).
